THREAD DAY :: Today we explored the Asagi Museum, filled to the brim with incredible examples of Nishijin textiles, the Kyoto silk brocade. They are showing an exhibition of woven versions of Hokusai’s views of Mount Fuji, beautifully translated from ukiyo-e woodblock prints into finely woven textiles. To our delight we were invited into a private back room to see even more examples of the stunning Nishijin work, much of it woven with gold or platinum threads! Then it was off to shop for threads
